In a period of social and political volatility, the rigorous bustle and fleeting scenes became a normality in the city of Athens, bringing P.MAIDIS, in a time of personal disruption and exploration. The results of this journey, brought to life a series of photographs, characterized by a personal touch and spectrum, describing the photographer’s time, traversing the multifaceted and controversial landscape of Athens. The documentary series Half Athenian, like a narrative on our ability to embrace cultural opposites, showcases our essential connection to a sense of being, to a sense of one-self, of who we are for identity and belonging, and the importance of questioning the notion of life.

The series title takes its drawn from the different minorities forming the Athenian population. A blend of origins, cultures, rituals and generations, adding their own pebble to the urban landscape of the Greek Metropolis. It is also a reference to the personal story of P.MAIDIS, to his childhood, in a city characterized by a continuous bipolarity and radical transitions.
